Our programmes are designed, built, and delivered only for the most marginalised girls, who live in poverty.
Why girls?
Girls under the age of 18 are some of the most marginalised and excluded populations on the planet. Girls often do not benefit from respect and autonomy, nor from sufficient educational support to deliver on their transformational potential. These adolescent girls, however, are our next generation of leaders, and must be given the platform, the resources, and the support to make their voices heard.
Global Girl Project firmly believes in giving them a space to build confidence in that voice, so they can use their ideas and passions to drive real change, within their own communities and beyond.
In response to this, we design, build, and deliver our programmes for only for the most marginalised girls, who live in poverty, as defined by our partners.
Our approach to Community Engagement
Global Girl Project (GGP) operates a partnership-led approach to identifying and engaging the girls who will benefit the most from the GGP journey. This means that potential programme participants - girls between the ages of 13 and 18, deemed to be living in poverty by our partner organisations - are identified, selected, contacted and enrolled into the programme directly by local representatives.
We trust the expertise of our partners for this because they are integrated into their local communities, and therefore have the best picture of where, and for whom our programmes can deliver the most powerful change. You can learn more about this approach in our annual report, available here.
Our delivery partners currently operate in:
Cambodia
Haiti
South Africa
India
Jordan
Peru
Once programme participants have been enrolled into the Global Girl Leadership Initiative (GGLI) by our local partners, they can then take the first step in the GGP journey.
